Weekend Baking! - Fruity Berry Pies


Hey Reader,

Though my mom made the best double-crusted pies, I love fruit pies with a crumble topping. I seriously could eat just the crumble. These pies are some of my favorites.

Remember to always taste your fruit before and after adding the sugar. And feel free to adjust the sugar 1 tablespoon at a time if the fruit is really tart.

  • Sour Cherry Crumble Pie: I was so excited when I nailed this pie after multiple tests. The tart cherry filling is perfect with the crumble topping. Sour cherry season is short, so make this soon.
  • Peach Crumble Pie: There is just something about baked peaches. They're so good, especially when combined with cinnamon.
  • Marionberry (aka Blackberry) Pie: This pie is perfect with its slightly tart filling and sweet crumble. Marionberries are a type of blackberry grown almost exclusively in Oregon. You can find them frozen in some states, but if you can't find them, use regular blackberries instead.
